The Write Circle in Chennai welcomed bestselling author, essayist, and podcaster Shunali Khullar Shroff for an engaging conversation with Deepali Goyal, offering audiences an opportunity to delve into the experiences, observations, and ideas that have shaped her distinctive body of work. Through a candid and thought-provoking exchange, the session explored themes of home, family, contemporary lifestyles, and the evolving narrative styles that define Shroff’s writing.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome address by Deepika Goyal, Ehsaas Woman of Chennai, setting the tone for a stimulating literary dialogue. Reflecting on her journey as a writer and cultural commentator, Shroff shared insights into her creative process and discussed how changing social realities, family dynamics, and contemporary urban experiences find expression in her work. A journalist by training, Shunali Khullar Shroff is a Mumbai-based writer whose work spans fiction, essays, podcasting, and cultural commentary. Over the past two decades, she has written extensively on themes such as womanhood, class, identity, popular culture, art, and travel. She is the author of the bestselling novel Love in the Time of Affluenza, known for its sharp wit and incisive social commentary, and the memoir Battle Hymn of a Bewildered Mother.
Her latest novel, The Wrong Way Home, explores themes of divorce, identity, and self-discovery in contemporary India. Shroff is also the co-host of Not Your Aunty, a popular culture podcast that examines contemporary issues with humour, candour, and insight.
